Frequently Asked Questions
How is the Reports Dictionary different from the Data Dictionary?
Previous versions of the Data Dictionary have included sections on reports to varying degrees of detail. Users have consistently asked for more and more information in this area. Because we have expanded the information so dramatically, we have broken reports information into a separate dictionary. In short the Data Dictionary documents the database and the Reports Dictionary documents the reports.
Is enough information included to recreate VISUAL reports?
Generally not. The intention of Reports Dictionary is to document the standard VISUAL reports. Much of the information to create a report is part of the source code and is beyond the scope of this product. While the Reports Dictionary shows you where report data comes from it does not tell you the conditions of how the data are retrieved and the relationship to the many options within the VISUAL software.
What plans are there to include additional information in future releases?
Changes and additions are based strongly on customer feedback. Please submit ideas and describe the value to the user community.
May I copy the book for more than one person?
No. The manual is copyrighted and must not be copied. We respectfully request that you honor the copyright and use our multiple copy discounts if you need several copies. A great deal of time has gone into producing a limited number of copies of the manual.
Is there a maintenance fee?
No. Future upgrades will be offered to current dictionary owners at a special price. Based on user feedback, we may offer an annual subscription service that will ensure that regular updates are sent to you. You will be automatically notified by e-mail or fax of new version availability.
What if I have a previous release of VISUAL?
The information in the Reports Dictionary should still be applicable although some of the fields may not have been used in earlier versions of VISUAL.
Are discounts available if I purchase multiple copies or have recently purchased a previous version of the Reports Dictionary?
Yes, we offer special pricing in both of these cases. Upgrade prices are posted where available. Please contact us to inquire about quantity discounts.
